In the mastic asphalt sector, there are many time served asphalters. None more so than Pete Sutton of MAC contractor member NRA Roofing & Flooring Services based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
Pete is the company’s longest serving employee at 80 years old. Born in 1940 in Grantham, Lincolnshire, Pete started his asphalting career working for Flexi-Mastic in Leicester in 1956. He then moved to Ilkeston in 1958 where he worked for Pitchmastic.
He went on to work at various small local firms over the next few years and also spent two years at General Asphalt in Birmingham.
In 1980 he started working for NRA Roofing & Flooring Services, or Nottingham Rock Asphalt as the company was known back then. He remains at the company to this day, having given 41 years’ of dedicated service.
